All of my recent photos are of little else besides Georgetown. Here I am in the nation’s capital, with an endless potential of things to do and see, but already it is the end of February and my camera has explored little beyond the five blocks between our apartment and Esme’s elementary school. But I am so fond of this path. Yes, I am bound to it whether I like it or not because a child waits for me at the end of it Monday through Friday. Sometimes I groan a little when it comes time to lug the stroller down the stairs–again. But through force of habit and the repetition of going back and forth with so many steps, I have internalized, made friends with, a neighborhood. But it seems as if my life always tends to favor depth over breadth, so I might as well accept my place in the cosmos. I have no argument to pick with Georgetown. I won’t regret our time together.

So, my participation in Photo Friday is a little half-hearted this week, but hopefully now that there is an assigned theme for next week (yellow) I will be more deliberate. I confess, the first thing that comes to mind is a very lemony, very imposing mansion a few blocks away. When the sun hits it just right….
